Getting Started

How do I get started rowing at ORU? It all depends on who you are, and the time of the year.

Juniors

Open to High School and select Middle School students aged 12-18, the four season Juniors program runs Monday-Friday and the occasional the weekends for special events:

Spring Season - March thru June - Sprints type races- one of the main rowing seasons, culminating with the Regional Championships. Practice is Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm.

Summer Camp - June thru August - Ideally the best time for new rowers to get introduced to the sport. Focuses on developing new skills and broadening old ones in a fun atmosphere. Practice is Monday-Friday from 4pm-6:30pm.

Fall Season - Head Race season, featuring longer races and culminating in our hosted race, The Portland LOOP Regatta since 1988. Practice is Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm.

Winter Training - Land based circuit and cardio training in our boathouse gym. Practice is Monday-Friday from 4pm-6:30pm.
